Aquaguard vs. Kent: Which Brand Has Better After-Sales Service?

A deep dive into the real cost of ownership, AMC pricing, and customer service reviews of India's two biggest water purifier brands.

By Water Purifier Advisor Team

In the Indian water purifier market, two giants dominate: Eureka Forbes (Aquaguard) and Kent RO.

If you walk into any electronics store, the salesman will likely push you toward one of these two brands. Both make excellent hardware with advanced multi-stage purification technologies. The water quality from both top-tier models is indistinguishable.

However, the hardware is only 50% of the equation. A water purifier is a high-maintenance appliance. Over a 5-year period, you will interact with the brand’s after-sales service team at least 10 to 15 times for filter changes and breakdowns.

So, which brand actually offers better service and long-term value? We looked at AMC costs, response times, and customer reviews to find out.

1. Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) Costs

Both brands rely heavily on AMC subscriptions to generate revenue after the initial sale.

  • Kent RO: Kent generally offers a 1-year free AMC with new purchases (covering service visits, but often excluding consumables like filters). Their comprehensive AMC (which covers all filters and the RO membrane) typically ranges from ₹4,500 to ₹5,500 per year depending on the model.
  • Aquaguard: Eureka Forbes has a slightly different model, often pushing highly customized service plans. Their comprehensive AMC generally sits between ₹4,000 and ₹5,000 per year.

Winner: Aquaguard is often slightly cheaper on the official AMC, but Kent’s generic filter sizes mean you can opt-out of the official AMC and use local technicians for much less.

2. Proprietary vs. Generic Filters

This is the biggest hidden difference between the two brands.

  • Aquaguard: Modern Aquaguard models use highly proprietary, cartridge-style filters with specific locking mechanisms. You must buy official Eureka Forbes replacement filters. If you call a local technician, they won’t be able to fit third-party filters into the machine.
  • Kent: Many Kent models still use standard 10-inch filter housings. This means when your 1-year warranty expires, you can call a local plumber and use high-quality third-party filters (like Lexcru) for a fraction of the cost.

Winner: Kent, for giving consumers the freedom to repair the machine cheaply after the warranty expires.

3. Service Response Times

This varies drastically by city.

  • In Tier 1 cities (Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi), both brands have massive service networks and usually respond within 24-48 hours.
  • In Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, Kent often has a slight edge due to their franchise service model, which empowers local dealers to handle repairs quickly. Eureka Forbes’ centralized dispatch system can sometimes lead to delays in smaller towns.

The Verdict

If you want a sleek, modern machine and don’t mind paying a premium for official, branded maintenance every year, Aquaguard offers a premium experience.

If you are budget-conscious and want the flexibility to use local technicians and generic replacement filters after your first year, Kent is the smarter long-term financial decision.
